Luke: The Greatest Story Ever Told
"Preparing the Way for the King" (Luke 3:1-22)
January 13, 2008 10:00 A.M.
If there was one person throughout history who had a reputation for
being passionate about the kingdom of God, it was John the Baptist. He
was fearless, and spoke truth to anyone and everyone he came across. He
declared to everyone the same message: “Repent!” Are you living a
life of repentance? What does it mean to live a life of “repentance”
anyway? Join us next week as Pastor Erick begins a brand new series
through the gospel of Luke with a message from God’s Word entitled,
“Preparing the Way for the King.”

"How To Resist Temptation" (Luke 4:1-13)
January 20, 2008 10:00 A.M.
How do you stand up against temptation? There isn’t a single
Christian in the world who doesn’t struggle with temptation. How are we
supposed to win the battle? Jesus battled real temptation for us and
yet was able to resist without sinning. He gives that victory to us,
and through His work gives us an example of how we too can win the
battle.

"The Homecoming Of Jesus" (Luke 4:14-30)
January 27, 2008 10:00 A.M.
Isn’t it nice to come home after being gone awhile? Jesus had been
gone for a little while being baptized and facing temptation, but now
He was finally home. Unfortunately, home was not as welcoming as it
should have been. Rather than being welcomed, the people He spoke to
were offended at Him and they were even so bothered that they tried to
kill Him! What did He say that was so offensive?

"The Authority Of Jesus" (Luke 4:31-44)
February 3, 2008 10:00 A.M.
What an awesome God we have. He is the ruler of this universe and
there is nothing outside of his authority. While Jesus was in the
flesh, the world got glimpses of this authority whenever He would come
into contact with sickness, disease or even possession. None of these
could stand up to His power, and if He commanded them to flee, they
were gone. Do you realize the authority that you have in Christ? Do you
worship Him as King of Kings and Lord of Lords?

"The Fear Of God" (Luke 5:1-11)
April 6, 2008 10:00 A.M.
When Jesus called His first disciples He did it in a bit of a
strange way. He caused them to catch a bunch of fish! You
would expect that they, being fishermen, would be thrilled to have made
so much from this kind man named Jesus. However, they aren’t as
much thankful as they are scared and left in awe. Why?
Because they recognized that only someone from God could perform this
kind of miracle. Peter immediately fell to his knees and cried
out, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man!” Is this the right
response? What does a proper fear of God look like? Join us next
week as Pastor Erick resumes our study through the gospel of Luke!

"A Leper, A Paralytic, and A Tax Collector" (Luke 5:12-39)
April 13, 2008 10:00 A.M.
In our culture, who we choose to hang out with says a lot about us.
We typically hang out with people that are just like us, people that we
will be comfortable with. But Jesus seemed to do the exact opposite in
His ministry. The sick, the lame, the poor, the sinner all found it
comfortable to be with Jesus and sought Him out for help. As a matter
of fact, the only people that can really have fellowship with Jesus are
those who need help. Do you need help? The Bible says we all need not
just help, but rescuing. Join us next week when Pastor Erick will
introduce us to three characters who, like us, know they need rescuing!
ALSO: Communion will be served.

"Jesus, Lord Of All" (Luke 6:1-11)
April 20, 2008 10:00 A.M.
Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount that He came “not to abolish
the law, but to fulfill the law.” But what does this mean? If there was
one thing that ancient Jewish leaders took seriously it was proper
Sabbath observance. They took extreme measures to make sure that they
truly didn’t do any work on that day. Along comes Jesus and He seems at
first glance to have total disregard for this observance. So is He
still fulfilling the law?

"Promises Of Prayer" (Luke 6:12-17)
April 27, 2008 10:00 A.M.
God's promises are accessed through the means of prayer. But does
that mean we can just claim anything
and God will deliver? Steve Lanting brings us a message about the
conditions underwhich God answers the promises of prayer.

"God's Gracious Promise" (Genesis 15:1-21)
May 4, 2008 10:00 A.M.
One thing that we Christians rejoice in tremendously is the truth
that we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone!
Our relationship with God begins and ends with grace. There is a
tendency to think that this way of relating to God started after Jesus
came, but in reality, the Bible teaches that people have always been
saved by God’s wonderful grace through faith. The first time we see
this theme developed is in the story of Abraham. What can we learn from
him? What does God teach us about Himself? Join us next week when
Pastor Erick will deliver a message from God’s word that will teach us
how to live life depending on God’s Gracious Promise.

"The Blessed Life?" (Luke 6:20-26)
May 11, 2008 10:00 A.M.
What does it mean to be blessed? Often times when we think of what
it means to be blessed, we think it means financially, or maybe good
health. But Jesus has a different definition of what it means to be
blessed: Blessed are the poor; blessed are the hungry; blessed
are those who weep!? Once again the Kingdom of God turns the world
upside down. We need to be turned upside down! How does Jesus bless us
through poverty, through hunger and weeping? Join us next week
when Pastor Erick will deliver a message from the word of God entitled,
“The Blessed Life?”
