Erick Sorensen, Senior Pastor
Erick, Jude, Melissa, JonathanErick Sorensen has been involved in a variety of ministries at Victoria Community Church for over 10 years, and currently serves as Senior Pastor. He married Melissa in 2003 and they have been blessed with two children, Jude and Jonathan. Erick has received the Certificate of Biblical Studies and a Certificate of Ministry Apprenticeship from the Alpha Way Bible College in Minnesota, a Bachelors of Science in Organizational Leadership from Biola University in California, and is currently working on completing his Masters of Divinity from the Lutheran Brethren Seminary in Minnesota. He also served as Director of Youth and Family Ministries at Grace Lutheran Church in Erhard, MN.
Steve Ripley, Director of Worship
Steve has been a member of our worship team since 1993, and in 2000
became our part time staff Director of Worship. If you have any
questions about serving on a worship team as a musician, singer, or
audio-visual person, he is your contact.
Melinda Rutherford, Marriage and Family Therapist Intern
Counseling services are provided by Melinda Rutherford, a California
state-registered MS Marriage and Family Therapist Intern, under the
supervision of a licensed therapist.
As VCC's Minister of Children and Youth from 1998 - 2003, Melinda
formed
many special relationships with local families and wanted to do more to
assist them as a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She graduated
from Fuller Theological Seminary in 2003 and has completed more than
300 hours of clinical counseling at the Interchurch Counseling Center
in Whittier.

Who oversees the activities of VCC?
There are three active boards which govern Victoria Community
Church: the Board of Elders, Trustees and the Board of Christian
Education. Each board has its own specific function within VCC. Pastor
Erick Sorensen sits on both the Elder Board and the Trustee Board.
Members of the Elder Board are: Chris Brown, Steve Lanting, Steve Ripley, and Pastor Erick Sorensen.
The Trustee Board includes Jeff Barding, Bill Broderius, Donna Biroczky, John Campbell, Donna Davis (Treasurer), and Gordon Drake. Pastor Erick also sits on this board as an ex-officio member. Donna Davis also serves as VCC's Treasurer.
The Board of Christian Education consists of Donna Biroczky, Trish Bowman, Melissa Neise, Nancy Sorensen (Director of Children's Ministries), Dana Loeb (Youth Group Leader), and Kimmi Brown (K.I.C.S. Leader).
The Elders and Trustees meet monthly, both individually as boards, and in joint meetings. This enhances communication between the boards like never before. The Board of Christian Education meets quarterly to discuss matters impacting the Christian education provided in our children's and youth ministries.
Victoria Community Church functions under a Biblical Constitution, which regulates the function and form of the boards. Our affiliation with the Church of the Lutheran Brethren provides input into the Constitution, although VCC is completely autonomous in its operational decisions.
